NEED TO KNOW FOR SELLING OF BAKED GOODS, CANNED OR FARM PRODUCT ENTRIES:

With the extension of the exhibit time, we are aware that many of the baked, canned or farm produced entries will not last the week in peak condition. We are offering a solution that each exhibitor will need to OPT IN if willing. On Tuesday (after judging on Monday), there will be a “Taste of Fair” event open to the public. Entries may be donated by the exhibitor to this event. Samples will then be purchased by the public. Proceeds from this event will be donated back to the Exhibit Hall fund. A small slice, piece or portion of any baked goods exhibit will be preserved with the ribbons for pickup on Sunday. This is NOT a requirement of entry and exhibitors are welcome to take their entire exhibit home on Sunday, should it last the week. Any entry that exhibits mold or other spoilage, will be removed from the hall immediately when discovered. Each entry must “OPT IN” at time of entry if it is to be used in the “Taste of Fair” donation.

The following products are ineligible to be sold under the Cottage Foods Act:

· Foods that require refrigeration for safety

· Baked or fried goods having cream, custard or meringue fillings or toppings

· Cakes or pastries with buttercream frosting or cream cheese icing or fillings; or other frostings requiring refrigeration for safety

· Cream Pies

· Pumpkin or sweet potato pie,

· Pumpkin butter

· Beverages

· Fresh pasta

· Flavored oil

· Pepper jelly and fruit preserves, jams, or jellies made with fresh peppers or homemade dehydrated peppers

· Fruit preserves, jams, or jelly made with alcohol

· Meat products, bacon, jerky, chicharron, poultry, fish and shellfish products; these products are also prohibited from being used as ingredients or toppings

Please do not hesitate to enter entries that have the above products in them, but know that they cannot be sold at the Taste of Fair Bake Sale!

We HIGHLY suggest that any exhibitor wanting to donate a CANNED item bring an extra jar of the product, rather than the jar that is opened by the judge! We would gladly accept donations that meet the Cottage Food Acts standard!

ANY entry in question, will NOT be sold!
