ATV/UTV Motor Cross Rodeo

About Event:

Get ready for mud, motors, and adrenaline! Bring your side-by-sides, dune buggies, four-wheelers, dirt bikes, and anything built for off-road fun and take on our action-packed obstacle course.

Drivers and riders will race through a series of challenges including tight turns, rough terrain, and skill obstacles designed to test both speed and control. Whether you're competing or just watching, this event promises loud engines, flying dirt, and nonstop excitement.

Open to ATV, UTV, motocross bikes, dune buggies, and other off-road vehicles.

Routt County Fair Office will be taking entries starting August 6th - day of event. Can enter on-site. $15 per event. Entry office will open at 6:30 AM. Buckles for each age division champion.

The Hayden Lions Club sponsors the parade and this years theme is:

“Celebrating The Bounty of Routt County.”

Everyone loves a parade and to see the community come together with creativity. Entry forms MUST be returned no later than August 6th at 5:00pm. Late entries must be delivered to the Hayden Center no later than August 8th. Mail entries to PO Box 906, Hayden, CO 81639, “Routt County Fair Parade. Meet day of parade in the old high school enterance, August 9th at 8:30AM

Power Wheels Derby

Mini mayhem! The next generation of demo derby drivers will entertain the crowds in the midway with battery powered plastic pulverizes. The object is to not destroy another child’s vehicle but to hit hard enough to pop two balloons and keep theirs from being popped!

  • All participants will receive a T-Shirt. Winners of each age group will receive a NEW POWER WHEELS vehicle!
  • Ages 3-5 years old | Ages 6-10 years old
  • LIMITED - 12 entries per group - $25 entry fee
  • Check in and tech inspection is from 4:30 - 5:15 PM by the trail course
  • Mandatory “driver and parent” meeting at 5:15 PM - All cars must be tech inspected before drivers meeting
RULES:
  • Any electric Power Wheel is allowed. No 4-Wheeler type vehicles allowed. Childs legs must be in compartment. Ride in not ride on.
  • Kids must be 3-10 years of age. Age groups are: 3-5 & 6-10.
  • Helmets MUST be worn.
  • The vehicle is limited to 6-12 volt power wheels only. Vehicles are allowed to have UP TO a 12V lawn mower batter which cannot be in the passenger seat and the battery must be secured and sealed away from the child.
  • Motors must remain stock, only batteries can be switched.
  • All doors and tailgates must be strapped shut. No sharp edges. Use zip ties, duct tape or other flexible material to ensure they stay shut.
  • Stock tires only. Tires may be covered with duct tape to prevent them from cracking or breaking. No screws, chains, etc. in/on tires.
  • Decorative changes can be made to make it look like a derby car. However NO reinforcements can be made.
  • Please remember this is for kids - don’t add something that could cause them to be disqualified.
  • Everyone MUST pre-enter through the Routt County Fair office starting 6th, 2026. ONLY 12 kids are allowed in each age group.
  • All Power Wheels must be checked in at the pit gate and then impounded until the time of the event.
  • Two balloons will be attached by event superintendents. The object is to pop the balloons. The last one left with balloons is the winner.
  • Each heat will be given a time limit. If, at the end of the heat, there is more than one contestant with balloons un-popped, the heat will be declared a tie.
  • If a child gets out of the vehicle during the event, they will be disqualified.
  • If the vehicle has more than one speed, low must be used.

Ranch Rodeo

Rules:

General Rules:

1. Any mishandling of horses or cattle will result in a DQ/NO TIME.

2. Good animal husbandry practices will be expected and always emphasized.

3. Rodeo will consist of four events: Breakaway, Barrel race, Doctoring, and Trailer loading.

4. No individual may compete on more than two teams. Teams will be made up of four members.

5. All contestants must wear a cowboy hat or equine safety helmet, boots, jeans, and long sleeved shirts at all times.

6. The captain will be the only team member allowed to address the arena judges at any time.

7. If the captain has an issue with the results of a time or a decision, the protest must be made at the time of the event. Once the team/contestant leaves the arena, the arena judges’ decision and final time or score will be final.

8. Arena judges will have the final decision on any discrepancy.

9. Anything stated by the announcer to the spectators will not influence the final decision of the arena judges and therefore the arena judge’s decisions will be final and take precedence over any announcements.

10. All discrepancies, accidents or mechanical malfunctions that occur while competing will be handled at the discretion of the arena judges.

11, No ropes can be tied hard and fast. A dally must be used in all events. Legal catches are whole head, half head, or horns, one or two back legs. NO front legs! NO dragging of cattle more than 20’

12. By entering, all teams commit to and understand the level of competition and entertainment this event brings to the Routt County Fair and will respect and adhere to the standards and values of the Routt County Fair.

13. One rope per horse. $400.00 entry fee per team; 4 members per team; 25 teams maximum; 6-minute time limit. We will draw team names to determine run order. ALL events must be completed for a qualified time.

Event Overview:

Each team will start with all members in the head or heel box’s. Team must select one team member to Breakaway rope the first cow, once a legal catch is complete roper must drop his/her rope and head back to the roping boxes, where they will tag a new team member to run a LEGAL barrel pattern. Once the barrel pattern is complete (judge will drop flag) All members are free to go “ Doctor” the cow that was breakaway roped. When the team leaves boxes, Another cow will be turned into the arena. Once the breakaway cow has been Doctored, team will then load the second cow in the trailer. Once all tasks are complete all team members and their horses will head to the finish circle (NE corner of the arena). All members must be mounted and ropes up for time to stop. Two judges will be present to monitor events. Tasks include Breakaway, Barrel pattern, Doctoring and Trailer loading the cow that wasn’t doctored.

  • “Rodeo style”, no D format.

Bull Riding (open to public)

  • Open to 6-18 years of age.
  • Must have own gear
  • Mini bulls - big bulls.

Bareback Riding

  • Open to 5-18 years of age.
  • Must have own gear.
  • Must ride with 1 hand.

Saddle Bronc Riding

  • Open to 5-18 years of age.
  • Must have own gear.
  • Must ride with 1 hand.

Ranch Bronc Riding

  • Open to 5-18 years of age.
  • Must have own gear.

Junior NFR

Central Region Finals:

Invitational Event - Watch the best youth rough stock riders from Colorado, Nebraska, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Wyoming, South Dakota and many other states compete for the top 2 spots to advance to the Junior National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Barrel Racing and Bull Riding is open to the public.
