ENTRIES OPEN ONLINE – August 1st, 2023

CHECK-IN – Wednesday 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm

JUDGING – Thursday 9am Routt County has open judging which means you are welcome and encouraged to be present and watch the judges at work! Please do not impede judging or interact with the judges while judging is happening. Ribbons and placings will be displayed as soon as the judge is finished on Thursday.

CHECKOUT/PICKUP – Sunday 12p-4pNO EXHIBIT MAY BE REMOVED BEFORE 12PM ON SUNDAY -- EXHIBITS ARE ONLY RELEASED ON SUNDAY FROM 12-4pm.

GENERAL RULES – The following rules apply to ALL Home Arts Departments. Additional rules for individual departments are found at the beginning of the individual department heading.

  • Eligibility:
  • Age Divisions
  • Number of Entries Allowed: Exhibitors may exhibit a maximum of 2 entries per class but may compete in as many classes as desired.
  • Special classes may be created at the discretion of the superintendents and judges may combine championship categories. Judges decisions are final.
  • Specific departmental guidelines, rules, and display requirements must be adhered to or the entry will be automatically disqualified.
  • The Exhibit Hall does NOT provide electricity to any exhibit.All entries requiring power must provide their own power – battery or solar power only.
  • No live animals are allowed in exhibits in the Exhibit Hall.This includes, but is not limited to fish in aquariums or tanks.
  • ENTRY and RELEASE DEADLINES:
    • ENTRY: Unless specified in a specific department, all entries must be in the Exhibit Hall no later than Wednesday, August 17th, at 8:00 p.m.It is highly encouraged that entries should take no more than 30 minutes to set up and be exhibit ready. The Exhibit Hall is closed to exhibitors at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday (until Thursday morning) meaning all exhibits need to be set up and ready to be judged and exhibitors have vacated the building no later than 8:30 p.m.
    • RELEASE: ALL ENTRIES WILL BE RELEASED SUNDAY, AUGUST 21, FROM 12-4 PM ONLY. Entry receipts MUST be presented to superintendents during checkout time 12-4 ONLY).If someone besides the owner of the exhibit is picking up an item, please let the department superintendent know IN ADVANCE.
    • FORFEITED. All items left after 4 pm on Sunday without prior arrangements, become property of the Routt County Fair and may be disposed of as the fairgrounds does not have storage space for such items. Efforts will be made to return entries to their rightful owner within one week of close of fair.
  • Awards & Premiums
    • All judges decisions are final.
    • RIBBONS: The following ribbons and placings are available per age group, however ribbons and placings are at the discretion of the Judge.It is not a requirement of the Judge to award each ribbon or placing.
      • Class Placings: 1st Place Blue Ribbon, 2nd Place Red Ribbon, 3rd Place White Ribbon, Participation Ribbon, Honorable Mention Ribbon
      • Category Placings: Champion Purple Ribbon, Reserve Champion Lavender Ribbon, Honorable Mention Ribbon
      • Division Placings: Grand Champion Purple Rosette, Reserve Champion Lavender Rosette, Honorable Mention Ribbon
    • SPECIAL HOME ARTS AWARDS
      • If there are Individual Department Awards, they are listed under each department.
      • Judges Choice Award: ONE Judge’s Choice award per department – simply the judge’s favorite entry.
      • Superintendent’s Award: An award given to the most outstanding exhibit in the Exhibit Hall as voted on by the Superintendents. It can be from any department and any age group.
      • Helen Sherrod Outstanding Home Artist Awards: An award given to the ONE exhibitor, over the age of 18, who acquires the most blue ribbons in the Home Arts Exhibits. In the event of a tie, Champion and Reserve Champion Ribbons will also be counted.
    • PREMIUMS: In the Home Arts department ONLY, blue ribbons will receive premiums of $1.All Home Arts open class premiums MUST be picked up at the Exhibit hall on Sunday, August 21 from 12-4pm. Premiums not collected on Sunday, without prior arrangements, are forfeited.
  • Failure to abide by the rules will disqualify an entry. Violators will be evicted and could face future disqualification.

A. All home arts exhibits are open to Routt County residents only (Routt County second-home owners are considered residents and are eligible). No exceptions.

B. All items exhibited must be grown, prepared locally, or completed since the pervious fair.

C. Articles must be exhibited under the name of the maker who must currently live in Routt County and never have exhibited the same item in a previous Fair.

D. For the safety of our judges and other exhibitors, we do not allow exhibits of marijuana in any form. No exhibit may contain marijuana in any form. Failure to comply to this rule may result in future disqualification from Routt County Fair Exhibits.

  • Age Group Divisions must be designated on the entry blank. The following age groups apply for all departments unless noted in the individual department.
  • Age groups, classes and divisions may be changed at the discretion of the superintendent.
  • Adult/Child Collaboration (3-7)
  • Junior (8-12)
  • Teen (13-19)
  • Adult (20-60)
  • Adult Plus (61-75)
  • Senior (76-84)
  • Senior Plus (85 years and older)
  • Professional (any exhibitor having sold over $1000 worth of work, or “professional by trade” unless otherwise specified in divisions)
