Open Poultry Show

Date: Aug 17, 2022

The 2022 Routt County Fair will not be allowing live poultry due to the risk of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, or HPAI.

We, the Routt County Extension Staff and Small Animal Superintendents, feel that it is best that we do our part in preventing the spread of HPAI by not allowing live birds at the fair. While we still want to give our 4-H members the best experience possible, we will be doing an in person showmanship with stuffed animals, and a photo show for the market and show birds. Our market members are still allowed to sell their animals in the sale, by walking in the ring with a poster, picture, or banner of their animals.

Our members have worked hard this year to produce the best birds that they can. Even with the threat of HPAI, they have done their best to keep their birds healthy and growing this year. Please come show your support to these members both during the fair, and during the Routt County Jr. Livestock Sale on August 20th!
